Account Information Frequently Asked Questions

Multi-factor authentication (MFA) provides additional layers of security because a user’s credentials must come from at least two of three different factors or categories. With two-factor authentication (2FA), only two credentials are required, but MFA can use any number of factors for credentials. Credentials will fall into the following categories: Something you know, something you have or something you are.

Passwords are considered confidential information and will not be given to anyone other than the account holder. The best thing a parent can do to help is have the student contact the IT Help Desk at (502) 597-7000. A Help Desk technician will be happy to assist them.

Access to the various KSU accounts can be found from many locations on the KSU website, one place being the KSU website homepage or under KSU Connect.

We strongly recommend use of your KSU email address when conducting university business because important messages from the university are often only sent to official KSU email addresses.  Also, the IT department will use this address to keep users informed of application updates, warning, training and other technical information.
  • If you have previously enrolled for with Password Recovery Tool: reset your password to receive a text message, email (non-KSU email) or answer security questions.

As a security precaution, after 3 tries of failed password attempts, you will be locked out of your account.

New Students who have not registered for class and do not have a KSU email

  • Your “User ID” is your KSU Student ID number.
    • If you forget your Student ID, please contact the Registrar at (502) 597-6234.
  • If you apply over the Internet, you will create your own pin during the admission process.
  • If you did not apply via the Internet, use your birth date MMDDYY as your PIN. If your PIN does not work or needs to be reset, contact the IT Help Desk at (502) 597-7000.

Continuing Students who have registered for class and have a KSU email

  • Your ONE LOGIN information (KSU email and password) are used to log into WIRED.
  • Please contact the IT Help Desk at (502) 597-7000 for login issues.

Previous Students

  • Your “User ID” is your Student ID number.
    • If you forget your Student ID, please contact the Registrar at (502) 597-6234.
  • If your PIN does not work or you cannot remember your PIN, contact the IT Help Desk at (502) 597-7000.

Still having problems

  • Contact the IT Help Desk at (502) 597-7000.

After you initially log in, you will be required to have to change your KSU account password.

  • Passwords must be at least 12 characters in length.
  • Passwords must contain at least:
    • One (1) UPPER-CASE alphabet character
    • One (1) lower-case alphabet character
    • One (1) special character (eg. *, %, !, etc.) or number
    • not contain any part of your name or username
    • not be a password you have used in the past two years

Passwords expire every 180 days.

Students

All student KSU accounts are created when you are enrolled at the university.

Account Information

  • Your username will be [First Name].[Last Name]
  • Your initial password will be provided during orientation

Faculty and Staff

All faculty and staff KSU accounts are created when you are hired by the university, providing that you have been entered into the Banner system and assigned a KSU ID number.
