What Can You Find in the Advising Hub?

Undergraduate Advising

Your advisor is more than a person who helps you pick classes. Professional and Transfer Advisors are here to serve as a main point of contact for your academic journey and your overall success at KSU.

Your advisor can help you:

  • Explore and select a major
  • Understand your academic pathway
  • Learn how guided pathways and backward mapping work
  • Choose courses and prepare for registration
  • Monitor your academic progress
  • Understand degree requirements
  • Navigate academic challenges
  • Connect with campus resources
  • Address transition concerns
  • Explore academic and career goals

Sometimes you may need a little extra support to get back on track.

Our advisors work with students through early alert and intervention efforts to identify academic concerns and connect students with resources that can help improve course success.

The sooner you ask for help, the more options you have.

After completing 60 credit hours, identified faculty coaches become secondary advisors for students.

Faculty coaches are assigned within the student's academic major and can provide additional guidance related to:

  • Academic and program exploration
  • Major-specific questions
  • Career exploration
  • Program completion
  • Preparing for life after graduation

Registration doesn't have to be stressful. Your advisor can help you understand what courses you need, when you should take them, and how your courses fit into your overall degree plan.

Fall registration takes place during the preceding spring or summer.

Spring registration takes place during the preceding fall semester.

Don't wait until registration opens. Meeting with your advisor early can help you avoid surprises, make informed decisions, and stay on track toward graduation.

Need Help With a Class?

Asking for help is not a sign that you're failing. It's a sign that you're taking your success seriously.

Transfer and Transition Services

Changing schools or starting college is a big transition. Transfer and Transition Services help make that process easier.

We support students transitioning:

High School → KSU
Community College → KSU
Another College/University → KSU

Our goal is to help you feel connected, prepared, and supported from the moment you arrive at KSU.

Transfer & Transition Services Can Help You:

  • Understand the transition to KSU
  • Connect with campus faculty and staff
  • Explore academic pathways
  • Build relationships with other students
  • Get connected to campus organizations and events
  • Find academic and personal support
  • Connect with peer mentors
  • Develop effective college learning strategies
  • Become an active and engaged member of the KSU community

You don't have to navigate college alone.

Peer mentoring provides opportunities to connect with fellow students who can offer encouragement, support, and perspective as you navigate academic and personal challenges.

Throughout the year, Transfer and Transition Services offer workshops, seminars, and activities focused on helping students:

  • Strengthen learning skills
  • Build critical-thinking skills
  • Develop productive academic habits
  • Become more confident learners
  • Connect with the KSU community
  • Prepare for academic success

We work with community college partners, particularly throughout Kentucky, to create stronger pathways for students who plan to transfer to KSU.

Our goal is simple:

Make the journey to KSU—and success at KSU—a little easier.
