Faculty Resources

This section details faculty- and staff-related information.

Class Visits

• Would you like a KSU Writing Center staff member to visit your class?
• Throughout the semester, we can schedule a ~10 minute presentation for any class.
• We will introduce ourselves, explain our services and resources, and provide a walkthrough for creating appointments.
• Additionally, we can focus on a specific topic or assignment during the presentation, if requested.

Schedule a Visit

Required / Extra Credit Visits

• Are you requiring a student to make an appointment with the Writing Center? Will students receive extra credit for making an appointment?
• Whether it is required or for extra credit, the KSU Writing Center is equipped to work with faculty.
• Instructors can email beforehand to inform us of the visit, but the student must inform their writing coach before, during, or immediately after the appointment. The student must then provide the email address of their instructor.
• The writing coach will then email the instructor with the Coach's Review, which confirms attendance, details focus(es), and summarizes progress. The Coach's Review should be received within 24 hours of the appointment.

STUDENTS AND FACULTY: If you are missing the Coach's Review or need it to be resent, please contact the Writing Center.

Syllabus and University Material Workshop

• The KSU Writing Center is planning to provide a faculty- and staff-exclusive workshop. All faculty and staff are welcome!
• The workshop will focus on the creation of syllabi and class material, revision for student-focused writing, and review of any other university materials.
• The workshop will begin with a short introductory presentation on student-focused writing and revision, which will be followed by the peer-review workshop.
• Faculty and staff will be encouraged to: speak freely, be open to sharing their work for cooperative revision, and focus their writing on increasing student accessibility (where appropriate).
