Clara Ross StampsClara Ross Stamps is an experienced higher education administrator who currently serves as acting president of Kentucky State University in Frankfort, Kentucky. She was elevated to the position after serving as senior vice president at Kentucky State University, where she directed the Division of Brand Identity and University Relations. Stamps is an award-winning marketing professional and through her 25-year career has been recognized for her ability to connect individuals to brand strategy in order to launch, build or reposition underutilized brands. 

Stamps joined Kentucky State in 2017 and her responsibilities included leading internal and external shareholders to protect and champion the Kentucky State University brand across all areas of communication and design, including media relations, public relations, community engagement, alumni relations, magazine publishing, marketing, and event management, as well as creative and multimedia services. 

She provided vision, strategy and leadership for Kentucky State’s brand and reputation and served as the official University spokesperson. 

Prior to joining the institution, Stamps was the vice president for marketing and communication at Alcorn State University, where she and her team worked to optimize Alcorn’s online presence and social media initiatives to create awareness and enhance knowledge of the Alcorn brand among key audiences, while enhancing the institution’s reputation. 

Stamps led the Alcorn community in establishing and communicating a consistent University brand and slogan — Where Knowledge and Character Matter and mantras such as Be Brave. Go Further.; Fear the Brave and Here’s Where You Belong. Her innovative efforts produced enrollment growth and significant positive media coverage of Alcorn’s people and programs. This success was achieved by cultivating relationships with media outlets to improve acceptance of story ideas, and by facilitating media’s ability to access information,  along with communicating effectively about the achievements of the Alcorn family. 

She earned a Bachelor of Science in business administration with a concentration in marketing and emphasis in public relations from Mississippi College in Clinton, Mississippi. She is pursuing a Doctorate in Education in adult and higher education leadership with an emphasis in governance and policy studies from Morehead State University in Morehead, Kentucky.
