President's Welcome Letter

Welcome to the Thorobred ROTC Program!

KSU Army ROTC is a partnership program within the University of Kentucky Wildcat Battalion which has been a commissioning source for the United States Army for over a hundred years. Centrally located in Hathaway Hall, Army ROTC has one primary task: to educate and train college students to become military officers. This is done through a combination of classroom instruction, physical fitness training, training exercises, and special events. Throughout each semester, Cadets will participate in events ranging from early morning runs and marches to supporting the KSU Athletic Department during KSU Football and Basketball games. There is always a need for motivated individuals to come out and support KSU campus activities. The benefits of participating in a collegiate ROTC program are plentiful. Every year the graduating seniors receive not only a college diploma, but a commission as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army. Until that day, however, there is no shortage of training events to introduce Cadets to the community they will one day enter. Information on the Wildcat Battalion and training events can be found at UK Wildcat Battalion.

  • KSU will offer active service members approved for Federal Tuition Assistance (FTA) the per credit hour rate consistent with the Department of Defense (DoD) semester hour cap. DoD has directed a uniform per semester hour cap of $250 for tuition assistance (TA) and an annual ceiling of $4,500.
  • KSU will provide up to six Room and Board allowance waivers a year for any student who is the recipient of a 3 or 4 year Army or Air Force ROTC scholarship. Students must maintain a minimum of a 3.0 GPA and be in compliance with all Army or Air Force height/weight and physical fitness standards to remain eligible for this waiver. This incentive will be rescinded upon disenrollment from the Army or Air Force ROTC program.
