Important Announcement:  The Kentucky State University Testing Center will begin administering tests on campus beginning August 17, 2020 by appointment only.  All test takers must provide their own PPE, bring appropriate identification, admission ticket and sharpened pencils. If you have additional questions please contact the KSU Testing Center at (502) 597-6454.  Please note that KSU is mandating the use of PPE and social distancing is strictly enforced for test takers entering our campus and facilities to test.

Placement, Proficiency, and Learning Support Services

On-site testing by appointment:

Kentucky State University offers on-site proctored administration of the ACT National, ACT Residual, SAT, CLEP, ACCUPLACER, KYOTE, and the LSAT exam. Please contact Ms. Thea Mason, Testing Center Director, at thea.mason1@kysu.edu for more information. All testing is conducted via paper or online, in a proctored location on campus which will be included in the test takers’ information when the test is scheduled. In addition, testing requires validation of test taker identity.

Credit for life assessments follow internal processes at Kentucky State University. For additional information, please contact: sophia.ellis@kysu.edu.

Testing Accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)

Kentucky State University Americans with Disabilities Act Notification:

In accordance with the requirements of Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 and subsequent amendments in 2008 (“ADA”), Kentucky State University will not discriminate against qualified individuals on the basis of disability in its services, programs, or activities.

Effective Communication:

Kentucky State University will provide upon request appropriate aids and services leading to effective communication for qualified persons with disabilities so they can participate equally in Kentucky State University’s programs, services, and activities, including making information and communications accessible to persons with speech, hearing, or visual impairments.

Modifications to Policies and Procedures:

Kentucky State University’s Testing Center will make sufficient modifications to policies and programs to ensure that people with disabilities have an equal opportunity to enjoy all of its programs, services, and activities.

Any person who requires a supplementary aid or service for effective communication, or a modification of policies or procedures to participate in a program, service, or activity of Kentucky State University, should contact Disability Services at (502) 597-6041 or email philip.clay@kysu.edu as soon as possible but no later than 72 hours before the scheduled event.

KSU Students:

Individualized testing or extended time accommodations testing is scheduled at the discretion of the faculty and the student needing accommodation.  Students must have completed the appropriate accommodations paperwork with Dr. Philip Clay, Director of Disability Services at philip.clay@kysu.edu and (502) 597- 6041.

Note: Some accommodations may not meet the reasonable and appropriate standard for the ADA and as such may not be honored as requested.  Further, no requests for accommodations without appropriate documentation will be honored.

Off-Site Testing:

ETS examinations for graduate school admission (GRE, MAT, GMAT, TOEFL)  are offered at the Prometric Testing Center, 2573 Richmond Road, Lexington, KY 40509.  To select and register for testing, please go their website at: https://www.prometric.com/en-us/Pages/home.aspx

Practice tests for these examinations are available online at each tests’ website. Please see the Educational Testing Service (ETS) launch page for more information https://www.ets.org/

PRAXIS testing is offered at Prometric, 2573 Richmond Road, Lexington, KY 40509.  PRAXIS test preparation is available online for registered test takers at the ETS website.
