Support continuous improvement through institutional planning and assessment aligned with the institution’s mission and goals by enhancing assessment practices and ensuring use of data to inform decision-making.

Functions

Student Learning: The Office of Institutional Effectiveness guides assessment of Program Learning Outcomes to ensure “quality teaching with a foundation in liberal studies, scholarly research, and public service to enable productive lives within the diverse global economy”.

Administrative Effectiveness: The Office of Institutional Effectiveness guides assessment of administrative goals  to support our commitment to “advancing the Commonwealth of Kentucky, enhancing society, and impacting individuals”.

Institutional and Programmatic Accreditation: The Office of Institutional Effectiveness assists with ensuring compliance with SACSCOC and programmatic accreditation standards.

Data Management: The Office of Institutional Effectiveness assists with the management of data collection and analysis for accreditation, accountability, and informed decision-making.

Accreditation

Kentucky State University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award associate, baccalaureate, masters, and doctorate of nursing practice level degrees. Kentucky State University also may offer credentials such as certificates and diplomas at approved degree levels. Questions about the accreditation of Kentucky State University may be directed in writing to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges at 1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, GA 30033-4097, by calling (404) 679-4500, or by using information available on SACSCOC’s website (www.sacscoc.org).

Kentucky State University remains committed to continuous improvement and institutional excellence. On December 7, 2025, the SACSCOC Board of Trustees placed the institution on Probation for Good Cause, providing a clear opportunity to strengthen our alignment with Standard 13.6 (Federal and state responsibilities) and reinforce our compliance efforts over the next 12 months (Letter from SACSCOC). A Special Committee has been authorized to visit the institution, allowing us to demonstrate the significant strides we are making as we move forward with transparency, responsibility, and a shared dedication to student and institutional success.
