Hybrid New Student Orientation
As a new student at the Kentucky State University (KSU), you are bound to have questions. We've designed our three-part Orientation Experience around you, helping to uncover the answers to the questions you have, and providing you information about campus resources, programs and services. By the time you complete your Virtual New Student Orientation, Bred Day and Bred Week you will be on your way to becoming a successful Thorobred.
In order to ensure the safety of all, we have designed a hybrid three-part orientation. We want you begin your college experience prepared and informed about all of the opportunities and possibilities available to you as a KSU student, and our Bred Prep New Student Orientation Program is key. We recognize that entering a new school can be a major transition. This virtual experience will provide the opportunity for you to learn all about Kentucky State University, as well as to handle all of your Thorobred Business prior to your arrival for Bred Week, which is a time dedicated to our new incoming students.
Part 1: Virtual New Student Orientation
Upon completion of registration, you will receive a link to complete your virtual new student orientation. This will be module based and allow you to learn more about the university. You can complete this at your own pace, but selecting a Bred Day is contingent upon your completion. You must complete your virtual orientation prior to August 1st as this is the last day to come down for a Bred Day. While you can complete this in your own timing, slots for each day are limited and on a first come first serve basis.
Part 2: Bred Day
After you complete your virtual orientation you will have the opportunity to sign up for a Bred Day. Bred Days are designed with the students convenience in mind. You will be able to select a date to come to campus during the summer and handle your Thorobred business such as getting your identification picture taken, finalize your class schedule, etc. This will help prepare you for Bred Week.
Part 3: Bred Week
Bred Week is an orientation program, designed to assist new incoming students in their transition from home to college. Program participants move to campus before classes begin and benefit from the opportunity to get acclimated to campus before the upperclassmen arrive and begin building a social support network. Educational sessions, special events, and evening social activities provide program participants with opportunities to learn tips of the trade from student leaders, meet new people, and identify resources to help them succeed in and out of the classroom. During the program, you will begin to build a network of resources that will help you to start your KSU journey on the right path.
There is a one-time nonrefundable Orientation Fee of $188.60 that covers both New Student Orientation and the Bred Week Orientation Program. This fee will be due at the point of registration, and will include special events, parties, food, K-State gear, Spirit Items, and much more! Also, during the program you will begin to build a network of resources that will help you to start your KSU journey on the right path.
Once your registration is confirmed and your fee is paid, you will receive your link to begin the virtual portion of your new student orientation.
