The College of Agriculture, Health, and Natural Resources comprises the School of Agriculture & Natural Resources, the School of Aquaculture and Aquatic Science, and the School of Nursing and Health Sciences. Students can select from many exciting and innovative degree programs at both the undergraduate and graduate level, along with specialized certificate programs. In addition, the College of Agriculture, Health, and Natural Resources works closely with the Kentucky State University Land Grant Program and its Cooperative Extension, Research, and outreach programs to serve communities across the Commonwealth.

Research includes Agriculture, Aquaculture, Environmental Studies, Sustainability, Food and Animal Science, and Family and Consumer Sciences. The Agricultural Research Station (ARS) encompasses all areas of research in the College of AHNR.

School of Aquaculture and Aquatic Science

Aquaculture has increased worldwide as fish consumption has increased concurrently with decreasing catches of wild fish. In Kentucky and the southern United States, aquaculture production focuses on raising freshwater species commercially.

The College of Agriculture, Health, and Natural Resources and its three distinct but complementary schools unite to prepare leaders who will feed, heal, and sustain the world. Students can choose from a range of programs that provide a comprehensive education and lead directly to meaningful careers that positively impact communities in Kentucky and beyond.

Our mission centers on three vital areas of impact. We focus on feeding our communities through the School of Agriculture and Natural Resources, building on a rich heritage of innovation to power the future of food, farming, and the environment. We prepare graduates for healing through the School of Nursing and Health Sciences, training healthcare professionals for vital, high-demand careers on the front lines of patient care. And we work toward sustaining our planet through the School of Aquaculture and Aquatic Science, where our specialized programs advance clean water technology, aquaponics, and sustainable aquaculture systems. 

New for Fall 2025:

We're excited to launch our interdisciplinary Biological and Agricultural Engineering programs in partnership with the College of Business, Engineering, and Technology, available at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
