What is Information Literacy

What is Information Literacy?

Succinctly, Information Literacy is the ability to know when information is needed, find, evaluate, and use the appropriate information. (ALA)

One does not become information literate overnight. It takes practice.

Why Should Students be information Literate?

With the proliferation of information sources, students need to learn how to think critically in evaluating information. Being information literate is not only acquiring academic skills but also life skills needed in both personal and professional arena.

The Library offers Library and Information Literacy Instruction for all disciplines.  Classroom faculty may contact Dr. Nkechi Amadife to schedule instruction.
