Vehicle Registration

Parking on the Kentucky State University campus is a privilege. Our primary interest is to encourage safety and convenience for everyone working and visiting the campus and to facilitate the efficient operation of the University.

To register your vehicle, please download and complete a vehicle registration form. Completed forms can be emailed to Cynthia.Harding@kysu.edu or Penny.Melton@kysu.edu. Forms can also be printed and turned in at the KSU Police Department. Vehicle registration does not constitute a valid parking permit.

Any faculty, staff, student, or other person with University business who parks a motor vehicle on a property owned or controlled by the University must display a valid Kentucky State University issued parking permit.

The University assumes no responsibilities for the care or protection of any vehicle or its contents while operated or parked on University property. The University parking facilities are patrolled 24 hours a day by the KSU Police and Public Safety Department.

  •  All students, faculty and staff who plan to park on campus must complete a Vehicle Registration Form.
  • Please make sure you destroy or return your expired parking permit, so others are unable to use it. However, if someone else uses your permit, the permit holder will be billed for all parking tickets issued with that permit number. The best solution is to return your expired permit when you pick up your new one.
  • Vehicles must be parked in one designated space as not to take up 2 or more or block any other spaces.
  • Vehicles are not allowed in areas or spaces closed by barricades or other traffic control devices.
  • Vehicle maintenance is not permitted on University property, other than emergency repairs.
  • Vehicles not properly displaying a valid vehicle license, or vehicles which are inoperable because of missing parts or damage will be considered abandoned and subject to immediate tow at the owner’s expense.

Motorcycles must also have a valid KSU parking adhesive permit to be parked on University property. Motorcycles shall not be parked within 10 feet of a building unless motorcycle parking area is designated. The same rules pertain to motorcycles as to cars.


Purpose and Liability

The following regulations shall apply to all faculty, staff, students and visitors who operate a motor vehicle on Kentucky State University campus. These regulations are in compliance with city and state traffic regulations in as much as the powers and authority of the University Police Department are pursuant to Kentucky Revised Statutes 164.950 and 164.955. Cooperation adhering to these regulations is needed for the orderly movement of traffic, parking convenience, and the safety of the entire university community. These regulations exist to expedite the safe and orderly conduct of University business and to provide parking facilities in support of this function within the limits of available space. The university assumes no responsibilities for the care or protection of any vehicle or its contents while operated or parked on university property. The university parking facilities are patrolled 24 hours a day by the police department. Failure of the university to strictly enforce any parking regulations shall not be construed as a waiver for the future enforcement of the regulations. It is not the policy of Kentucky State University to discriminate against any individual in its educational programs, activities or employment on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, disability, veteran status, age, religion, or marital status.
