Kentucky State University senior received $1,000 scholarship
A Kentucky State University education major recently received a $1,000 scholarship from the Margaret Bell Davis Endowed Scholarship Fund.
Jordan Lewis, a senior education major from Lexington received the scholarship, which is for full-time Kentucky State University African American students who are pursuing an undergraduate degree and a career in teaching at the elementary, middle or high school level. Applicants must be accepted into the teacher education program.
The objective of the scholarship is to reduce the imbalance of the classroom, as 13 percent of the population is African American and only seven percent of public school teachers are African American.
