A Kentucky State University English professor received a book contract for her upcoming scholarly work about a historic writer.

Dr. April D. Fallon, professor of English, received a contract to publish “Maeve Brennan: A Migrant Mind.”

“The book is about Maeve Brennan, fiction writer and essayist for the New Yorker,” Fallon said. “She was the first full time woman writer on the staff of the New Yorker. The book examines Brennan’s writing through the lens of her viewpoint as a keen eyed migrant in both Ireland and the US.”

Fallon has worked at Kentucky State for 22 years. Her main research interests are women’s literature, Modernism, Irish literature and poetry.

“This is my first scholarly book,” Fallon said. “I have published two books of poetry: ‘Mindseye’s Consort’ in 2013 and ‘Universe of Discourse’ in 2011.”
