Kentucky State University staff were recognized Wednesday, May 25 for their hard work and dedication to the university during Staff Appreciation. Employees enjoyed a day of fun and fellowship that also included raffle prizes, popular games, music, food, and a spades tournament.

“We are so grateful for the faculty and staff that work hard every day to make Kentucky State a great place to work and learn,” expressed Acting President Dr. Clara Ross Stamps. “They are the backbone of this university and their work is essential to the success of our students. I appreciate the talent and passion displayed each day and the commitment to always go above and beyond for Kentucky State.”

Enterprise System Manager Edward Fields, who hosted the Staff Appreciation spades tournament, acknowledged the importance of this and similar events.

“Staff are an integral part of the university’s overall fabric and often perform thankless jobs or go unnoticed,” Fields shared. “I think it is fantastic that Acting President Stamps took this opportunity to recognize the campus community especially our facilities team for their work in helping with the upkeep of Kentucky State. As a staff member, I personally appreciated the recognition.”

Monikha Moore has worked at Kentucky State for 24 years and also appreciated the show of gratitude.

"It feels good to be recognized for your hard work," she shared. "I love this institution and am happy to work to support its mission. We are one university and what we do every day matters when it comes to our students."

Congratulations to spades tournament winners Roy Walker and Charles Hopkins who called themselves the “Down South Georgia Boys (D.S.G.B.).”
