Kentucky State University to clear unpaid tuition and fees during the COVID-19 impact period

Kentucky State University officials recently informed students that tuition and fee balances owed to the institution from March 13, 2020 to July 30, 2021 will be cleared.

Kentucky State will pay the student balances owed to the University for the following semesters: spring 2020, summer 2020, fall 2020, winter 2020, spring 2021 and summer 2021.

“We understand the tremendous challenges that our students have faced over the past 18 months,” Gregory Rush, vice president for finance and administration/chief financial officer, said. “Many of our students and their families have faced job losses, housing and food insecurity, child care challenges, and many other impacts from the pandemic. Forgiving student debts from this period is a way to use our federal resources to assist in meeting these challenges. We want to do all that we can to reduce the barriers to the success of our students created by the effects of COVID-19.”

The payoff applies to balances owed to Kentucky State and does not apply to loans owed to outside entities.
