The Kentucky State University Board of Regents approved a tuition increase for its students at its regular meeting on Friday, April 24, 2015. The tuition will increase by 5 percent beginning fall 2015.

There was much discussion during both the committee and board meetings about improving academics and academic support in an effort to increase enrollment, retention and graduation rates. Also discussed was the university’s strong efforts to recruit more students from Kentucky.

Approval to confer degrees for KSU’s spring commencement was one of the actions taken by the board. Commencement is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. on May 9 in the Frankfort Convention Center.

The board reports included the number of student-athletes who have high grade point averages. A total of 74 student-athletes earned a 3.0 grade point average or higher for fall 2014, which amounted to 37 percent of KSU’s student-athletes. Seven student-athletes earned a GPA of 4.0. Interim athletic director Harry Stinson also reported that student-athletes logged more than 160 hours of community service.

KSU is moving forward with plans to adopt Oracle as its Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to manage its business processes and to advance its strategic goals. The Information Technology Department is currently in the process of identifying an implementation vendor.
