The Lexington Legends have selected 10 Kentucky State University students to attend a job fair at professional baseball’s winter meetings in Nashville.

The winter meetings, an annual gathering of major league and minor league baseball personnel, are scheduled for December 6-10 at the Opryland Convention Center. The job fair has become a must-attend event for those interested in working in baseball in a variety of areas including promotions, sales, community relations, media relations, and broadcasting.

Some of major league baseball’s biggest player trades and free agent signings occur at winter meetings, but much of the agenda, particularly at the minor league level, concerns the off-the-field business of professional baseball.

“The Legends are pleased to partner with KSU on this opportunity,” said Legends President/CEO Andy Shea.  “This will provide a chance for some very talented and energetic students to meet with decision-makers and very possibly get started on an exciting and rewarding career in baseball.”

The Legends will sponsor the 10 students, each of whom submitted applications and essays to be considered for the opportunity. In addition to entry fees, the Legends will support the students through payment of hotel expenses and a one-year subscription to PBEO.com (Professional Baseball Employment Opportunities), the official employment service of minor league baseball.

The KSU students who will attend the job fair are, Stephen Ferrell, Chicago; Bria Perry, Avon, Ind.; Joshua Dunn, Lexington, Ky.;  Makalah Kirkland, Indianapolis; Jade Luckey, Toledo, Ohio; Apryl Sadler, Miami, Fla.;  Fredrick Hattaway, Detroit; Sean Goodwin, Cincinnati;  Arefes Everette, Chicago, and Kiron McKenzie, Louisville.

The students will be accompanied by officials from KSU, including head baseball coach Rob Henry.
