Gregory Rush Appointed as Acting Vice President of Business Affairs at KSU

FRANKFORT, KY — President Raymond M. Burse has appointed Gregory Rush as the Acting Vice President for Business Affairs, effective October 5, 2015.  Rush has served as Director of Budget Policy and Planning at Kentucky State University since July 1, 2015.

Before his role at the University, Rush worked at the Kentucky Legislative Research Commission where he was legislative fiscal analyst and later promoted to deputy director in September 2011.

As deputy director, Rush supervised 19 analysts and support staff responsible for analyzing, reviewing and preparing budgets for the executive, legislative and judicial branches of government. He provided staff support to the House and Senate Appropriations and Revenue Committee Chairpersons. He also presented budgetary information to various groups including caucus meetings, appropriations and revenue committee members, and House and Senate leadership.

Rush’s extensive experience also includes associate commissioner at the Kentucky Department of Education; staff assistant at the Kentucky Justice and Public Safety Cabinet; auxiliary business services director at Arizona State University; fiscal branch manager at Kentucky Department of Corrections; finance director at Anderson County Schools; policy analyst at the Kentucky Finance and Administration Cabinet; and policy and budget analyst at the Governor’s Office for policy and management.

He began his career at the Kentucky Revenue Cabinet where he was senior internal policy analyst/revenue auditor and was promoted to assistant director of information systems.

Rush holds a BS in accounting and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Kentucky.

He is a licensed as a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
