Destinor Antoine Understands Teamwork

Posted on December 4, 2014

Destinor Antoine spends a lot of time answering his cell phone and working with his team in facilities to solve problems as they arise.

As Kentucky State University’s building service operations manager, Antoine oversees electricians, plumbers, locksmiths, carpenters, painters and HVAC workers.

“It’s challenging,” Antoine says. “But I graduated from Kentucky State University and I played football here. I just like to see the progress and the turnaround of this university because I’m part of it.”

Antoine received his bachelor’s degree in business administration from KSU in 2003. He also met his wife, Tiffany, at KSU. After he graduated, Antoine worked for an engineering company for a while but decided to return to KSU when an opportunity came open in Residence Life. Antoine has worked at KSU since 2006, and he has been in his current position for about three years.

Among other responsibilities, Antoine helped make sure parking and transportation to and from Alumni Stadium went smoothly during Homecoming and was also responsible for overseeing any power or plumbing issues.

Antoine praised the team he works alongside in facilities, and he says nothing would be possible without a good team.

“It’s not a one-man show,” he says. “I couldn’t do it without them. It took a team effort to get what we got accomplished for Homecoming.”

Antoine, no stranger to teamwork from his KSU football days, also stressed the importance of everyone at the university working together to ensure that KSU thrives.

“I believe we will succeed as long as we stay together in the midst of change,” Antoine says. “I just want to see the university grow and see the student body grow.”
