Why Kentucky State?

My family has a long legacy of attending Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Kentucky State offered a unique opportunity that allows me to work and gain experience while also pursuing my undergraduate degree.

What is your major and why did you choose this area of study?

I have always had a passion for writing. I wanted to expand and diversify my writing skills. I chose a minor in Black studies because of my interest in Harlem Renaissance writers.

Who inspires you and why?

My mother inspires me. She possessed a lot of resilience; she had me in college and still graduated. I admire that about her and strive to be resilient in my own life.

What do you plan to do when you graduate?

After graduating, I plan on writing for television shows or plays in the genres of comedy or drama.

Words to live by: “If it don’t look right, smell right or taste right, it ain’t right.” These words were told to me by my great-grandmother Annie May Holmes.
