SSS shares 7 Money-WI$E Tips

  1. Don’t spend all of your refund check! Only purchase necessary items with your refund, such as school supplies, essential personal items, and your required bills.
  2. Save a good portion of your refund to last through the end of the fall semester to cover meals in case your meal plan runs out. Also, pay necessities such as your cell phone bill.
  3. Complete your FAFSA for the 2018-19 school year right now. You’ll need 1040 tax forms from 2016. If you need help with your FAFSA, the Financial Aid Office or Student Support Services (SSS) can assist you. SSS is located in ASB-406.
  4. Check your KSU Student Account on WIRED to make sure you do not owe a balance. Click here view your account.
  5. If you owe a balance, stop by the Financial Aid Office (ASB-349) to identify options to resolve the balance with a student loan, Parent Plus loan, scholarship funds, payment plan or work-study, etc. You may have to speak with the Bursar’s Office (ASB-349) regarding a payment plan, but seek out options with the Financial Aid Office first.
  6. If you need a free copy of your credit report from Trans Union, Experian or Equifax credit bureaus, click here. Credit reports are free without the credit score. If you’re requesting your credit score you will have to pay a fee.
