Employee Profile: Claude Huddleston

Name: Claude Huddleston

Position: Dean of Students

How long have you been employed at KSU? Since August 14, 2017.

What do you enjoy most about your role? I enjoy connecting with students and helping them to achieve their goals. My motto is to “foster an environment that is conducive to learning for all learners” and protecting that environment, ensuring the betterment of our student body and their levels of achievement.

What has been one of your favorite moments at Kentucky State? So far it has been Homecoming, particularly coronation. The student leaders represented themselves, their families, and the student body very well. I’ve also enjoyed speaking to students about an up-and-coming initiative called the “The Road to Osh Kosh.” The initiative offers our graduating student leaders the opportunity to interview for graduate assistantships at the annual Osh Kosh Placement Exchange at the University of Wisconsin-Osh Kosh in February.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working? When I’m not working, I’m typically studying. I’m a student as well, in a doctoral program at Jackson State University. I love #myhbcu and the HBCU that employs me! At a football game, I’d definitely be seated on the K-State side!

What is one thing you couldn’t live without? It may sound cliché, but I really couldn’t live without my faith and my family. God’s love and support grounds and sustains me, as well as that of my family.

A fun fact about me is… I was a radio disc jockey at one point in my life for a small radio station in Michigan. I also co-hosted an additional on-air radio show, and formerly co-owned a studio in Metro-Detroit where we recorded the recording artist, Big Sean.
