Alumni Spotlight - Sabrena Kelly-Lewis

Name: Sabrena Kelly-Lewis

What year did you graduate from Kentucky State? 1990

What have you been up to since graduation? I’ve been happily married to my husband of 27 years; from this marriage we were blessed with one son. I’m an active life member of both the KSU Lexington Alumni Chapter and the Beta Gamma Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated.  I am a career employee with the Kentucky Department of Revenue where I am a Communications and Training Branch Manager for the Office of Sales and Excise Taxes.

What is your best memory or memories at Kentucky State?  I have so many great memories, but a few would be the fun times spent on the yard and in the grill enjoying that HBCU experience; and the small-class, family atmosphere with professors who were always willing to help students in any way they could.

What is the most important thing you learned here? It’s not about how big or prestigious the university is but it’s about how genuine, qualified and helpful the professors are, and how much work you are willing to put in to reap the benefits of graduating from an HBCU.
