Alumni Spotlight - Latrese Wallace Bellamy

Name: Latrese Wallace Bellamy

What year did you graduate from Kentucky State? I graduated with an associate degree in administrative support services in 2002 and with a Bachelor of Arts with a specialization in general business with focus in finance in 2012.

What have you been up to since graduation? I am currently working for the Commonwealth of Kentucky. I am human resource administrator for the Kentucky Finance and Administration Cabinet, Department of Revenue in the Office of Property Valuation. I am responsible for processing payroll, personnel actions, benefits and budget for the Office of Property Valuation. I am married to Corey L. Bellamy (also an alumnus). We have five adult children and four grandchildren. My other endeavors include spending time with family and friends while sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ.

What is your best memory or memories at Kentucky State? My memories at Kentucky State University are limitless. The School of Business worked with me to ensure that I received the necessary hours needed for the degree I was seeking. Being a non-traditional student, it was challenging to juggle family, work and school. But the opportunities to take courses online and have communications with my professors and advisors made it much easier and rewarding. I was able to remain on the dean’s list throughout my duration at Kentucky State. I also experienced some campus life activities such as Delta Mu Delta, Homecoming, gospel concerts, dramatizations and other special events.

What is the most important thing you learned here? The most important thing that I learned at Kentucky State is that you can achieve if you put in the work and believe!
