Upward Bound Summer Program
During the summer, Upward Bound hosts a six-week program that gives students the opportunity to reside on the historic Kentucky State University’s campus. Kentucky State University, a historically black land grant university, is home to about 2,500 students. The University obtains numerous majors including Business Administration, Public Administration, Nursing, and Education. However, what is most unique is its Aquaculture program.
While on the campus of Kentucky State University, Upward Bound participants receive the “college experience.” By taking summer classes in English, Writing, Math and Science as well as Foreign Language, students are prepared for the upcoming school year while being prepared for college.
Participants are also enriched in computer skills, ACT test prep, educational and cultural trips to various locations such as the Muhammad Ali Center in Louisville, Kentucky, Kings Island, Cincinnati, Ohio, Cocoa Beach, Florida and Universal Studios. They also attended several colleges and universities including: University of Kentucky, University of Louisville, Morehouse College, Clark Atlanta University, Spelman College, Centre College, Campbellsville University and a host of other colleges.
