This page is your go-to for getting started in Canvas, finding technical help, and accessing the tools you'll use throughout your KYSU Online/Global experience.
Getting Started: Your First Steps
New to KYSU Online? Complete these steps before your first day of class:
- Step 1: Activate your KYSU email at outlook.com/kysu.edu
- Step 2: Log into Canvas at kysu.instructure.com using your KYSU email and password
- Step 3: Review your course(s) in Canvas. Look for the Start Here or Course Overview module
- Step 4: Contact your Student Support Concierge/Online Advisor at the contact information below.
- Step 5: Explore the student resources below

Technical Requirements
Before your term begins, confirm your setup meets these minimum requirements:
- A reliable internet connection (broadband recommended)
- An up-to-date browser: Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Safari
- Adobe Acrobat Reader (free) for policy and course documents
- A device capable of recording audio/video for some courses (webcam recommended)
Canvas is also available as a mobile app for iOS and Android, though full desktop use is recommended for assignments.
Canvas Help & Tutorials
Canvas is the learning management system used for all KYSU Online/Global courses. The Canvas Community provides free, ADA-compliant video tutorials for students complete with captions and audio.

WIRED / Banner Self-Service
Use WIRED (Banner Self-Service) to view your grades and transcripts, manage your financial aid, and update your personal information.

Tutoring: Upswing
Free online tutoring is available to all KYSU Online/Global students through Upswing. This includes live sessions and async review, day or night.

Library Access
You have full remote access to Blazer Library's 60+ databases, e-journals, and e-books. No campus visit required.
