Areas of Support

Scholarships

Supporting the university’s scholarship initiatives is the most direct way alumni and friends of the university can make a difference in the lives of our students. Scholarships expand opportunities for undergraduate students by allowing the university to recognize and reward outstanding academic achievement and by helping to open KSU’s doors to students who would otherwise not be able to afford college.

University Fund (Unrestricted)

Kentucky State University relies on an annual basis of unrestricted funds to support a wide variety of university programs, special projects, new research initiatives and individual students. The University Fund is the foundation of this annual support, giving the university the ability to respond immediately to areas of greatest need.

Academic Areas (Schools and Colleges)

By choosing to invest in a specific academic unit, you are casting your vote of confidence in that instructional program. Moreover, you are supplying the necessary support to enhance established initiatives but also provide resources to create others. Either way, you are enriching the lives of students by expanding their opportunities.

Student Activities

KSU is dedicated to creating a comprehensive educational experience for our students. We provide opportunities that complement the academic curricula and help students overcome obstacles. We operate many of the programs and services of daily life, including housing, dining, recreation, student organizations, health care, counseling and career development.

The Henry E. Cheaney Legacy Brick Program

Supporters can honor a legacy and pay tribute to Dr. Henry E. Cheaney by purchasing bricks or plaques at the new plaza. The funds raised from the Cheaney Plaza project will support the construction of a new athletic complex.

Each brick measures 4in x 8in and can be engraved with the name of a relative or friend or a special message. The bricks will be embedded in the plaza’s walkway, located across from the Carl M. Hill Student Center. Plaques will be displayed along the plaza wall. Each plaque measures 9in x 12in.

Ideas to consider for your plaque design:

  • Highlighting generations of your family who have attended KSU
  • Creating a remembrance memorial honoring a family member, spouse, or friend
  • Listing your organization’s members

For more information about the plaza or to purchase a brick or plaque, call (502) 597-6760.
