Title III Faculty Professional Development Funds
Grant Cycle & Fund Application Window: October 1– September 30
Description & Purpose
Title III professional development (PD) funds support faculty in strengthening teaching, research, advising, and leadership skills that advance student success and align with institutional priorities. Activities must benefit both the individual and the University.
Guidelines
1. Eligibility
- Full-time faculty have priority.
- Full time faculty may apply if directly connected to funded program objectives.
- Eligible employees must have been with the institution for a minimum of 90 days.
2. Allowable Activities
PD funds can be used for:
- Domestic travel to attend (in-person or online) professional and educational conferences, workshops, and webinars.
- Guest lecturers, speakers, and consultants (applications must be submitted 60 days prior to the event).
- Online courses or seminars.
- Research or curriculum development tied to Title III objectives.
- Discipline-specific professional memberships (if required for accreditation).
3. Funding Priorities
- Activities that directly impact student learning and retention.
- Faculty who have not received Title III funding in the previous year.
- Activities that contribute to accreditation or program review needs.
4. Funding Limits
- Individual PD: Cannot exceed $4,000 per grant year.
- Faculty-led/Student Research PD: Cannot exceed $6,000 per grant year.
- Funds may cover registration, travel, lodging, and materials, consistent with federal and university travel policies.
- Funds cannot be used for personal enrichment or non-academic purposes.
- Awards are contingent upon grant fund availability.
5. Submission Deadlines
- Applications must be submitted at least 30 business days prior to the event.
- Applications submitted less than 30 business days prior will not be considered.
- Events requiring guest lecturers, speakers, or consultants must be submitted 60 days in advance.
- Retroactive funding (applications submitted after attending the event) is not allowed under any circumstances.
6. Accountability & Reporting
- Faculty must submit proof of participation.
- A brief report summarizing how the activity benefits teaching, research, or student success is required within 30 days of the activity.
- Failure to submit required documentation may affect eligibility for future funding.
