Student Support Services (SSS) Grant Aid

What is Student Support Services Grant Aid?

The Omnibus Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2001 (P.L. 106-554) amended the Student Support Services (SSS) Program to allow grant aid to be awarded to active SSS participants.

Grant aid is funded by the U.S. Department of Education and is awarded on an annual basis. These funds are provided directly to eligible SSS students to help dismantle financial barriers that may prevent persistence and graduation.


Who is Eligible for Grant Aid?

To qualify, a student must:

  • Be a current participant in the Student Support Services program.

  • Receive a Federal Pell Grant.

  • Have unmet financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office.


What is the Process to Apply?

Students must complete the following steps:

  1. Submit a 2025-2026 SSS Grant Aid Application.

  2. Complete four (4) one-on-one counseling sessions with a member of the SSS staff.

  3. Write and submit a personal statement describing your intended use of the grant aid.


How Much are the Awards?

  • All awards are one-time awards.

  • The minimum award is $650.

  • Award amounts may vary based on each student’s demonstrated financial need.


How Will I Be Notified?

  • Awardees will be notified by email.

  • Students who are not selected will also be notified at the same time.
