Frank Taylor, a 1980 graduate of Kentucky State University, has donated $1,000 for scholarships to be given to two students.

Taylor has designated $500 each to two College of Agriculture, Community, and the Sciences graduating seniors who are involved in MANRRS (Minorites in Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Related Sciences). MANRRS aims to give minority students the opportunity to network with other academic institutions, government entities, and organizations in the agriculture and natural resources industries.

Taylor announced the scholarships during his address at the Small, Limited-Resource, Minority Farmers Conference in November.

“I’m thankful to this great university,” Taylor said.

Taylor, who also played college football as a Thorobred, attended Kentucky State with the help of a scholarship. This was critical for his family, which already had other children in college.

“As an alumnus of this university, we’ve got to give back,” he said.

Taylor now lives in Mississippi, where he is the team leader of the Winston County Self-Help Cooperative. The cooperative assists landowners in maintaining their land and farmland for future generations. Taylor has also served with other organizations, such as the Hinds County Forestry Association and the Mississippi Grazing Land Commission.
