Kentucky State University students had the opportunity to attend training sessions during the spring semester to learn soft skills to prepare them for life after college.
The Office of Career and Professional Development launched the Student Success Academy in February and sessions concluded at the end of April. Ninety students, nominated by faculty, staff and administration, had the opportunity to attend six sessions.
Each session focused on soft skills that will help students in their careers. Sessions included topics like personal and career self-assessment, introspection and civility.
The Academy instructor for the six sessions was alumna Atty. Patricia Russell-McCloud, who also recruited professionals in her network to speak to our students over the course of the program.
Humana served as the program sponsor. Members of their organization participated in sessions, sharing insights and promoting their internship program and full-time employment opportunities.
