Kentucky State University will welcome an aspiring computer science major in the fall who represented Cincinnati Public Schools in a billboard campaign.

Aaron Harris, a freshman from Cincinnati, was among a select number of students nominated to represent the Cincinnati Public Schools 3E campaign. The Es stand for enrolled, employed and enlisted. Students were nominated based on grades, class rank, extracurricular activities and recommendations.

“I am truly humbled and honored to represent Cincinnati Public Schools 3E campaign,” Harris said.

Harris was one of three students to represent the enrolled portion of the campaign.

Harris said he appears on three billboards in Cincinnati and appears on the Cincinnati Public Schools website.

Harris enters Kentucky State with two semesters of credits earned already.

Harris said he learned about Kentucky State through his parents and by going on an HBCU college tour. Distance from home helped him make his decision.

“Logistically, Kentucky State was ideal for getting far enough away where I could grow and learn while being close enough to home where I could get back if need be,” Harris said. “It was also very affordable and they have very attractive scholarships.”

Harris said his parents inspire him because they make sure he has everything he needs and for instilling a hardworking spirit in him.

“I plan on becoming fully immersed in the life of the campus and finding an organization or group I could get involved in, as well as networking,” Harris said.
