A Kentucky State University professor is set to become a Fellow of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (FAANP) in June.

Dr. Geraldine Q. Young, associate professor of nursing, is to receive the high honor in nursing in June.

According to the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) website, fellows “are abstract reviewers, grant and scholarship reviewers, committee members, authors of journal articles, co-chairs, engaging speakers, powerful advocates, change agents and leaders at every level and in every state.”

Fellows go through a rigorous nomination process to verify candidates have worked to progress research, clinical practice, education and policy.

Young is currently the director for graduate nursing programs in the School of Nursing and Health Sciences. Young holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, a Master of Science in nursing from Alcorn State University, and a Bachelor of Science of nursing from the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
