Council Rudolph to join KY Football Hall of Fame
Kentucky State University defensive end Council Rudolph will be inducted into the Kentucky Pro Football Hall of Fame later this month. The Kentucky Pro Football Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place June 23-24 in Lexington.
Born January 18, 1950, in Anniston, Alabama, Council graduated from Cobb Avenue High School in 1968. In his senior season, he helped the team go to a 9-0-1 championship season and earned all-conference honors and a scholarship to KSU.
In his senior season at KSU, the Thorobreds ended their season 8-3-0 and played in the Orange Blossom Classic Bowl game. Rudolph was inducted into the Kentucky State University Athletic Hall of Fame in 1987 and the Calhoun County (AL) Sports Hall of Fame in 2009.
He was drafted by the Houston Oilers in the 7th round as the 160th pick in 1972. He went on to help the St. Louis Football Cardinals win two NFC East Championships in 1974 and 1975 and retired after playing six seasons in the NFL with Houston, St. Louis and Tampa Bay.
Other 2016 inductees include former University of Kentucky coach Blanton Collier, former UK tackle Warren Bryant, former Eastern Kentucky safety Myron Guyton, former Louisville safety Ray Buchanan, and Dermontti Dawson.
