Dr. Frederick Williams: A Leader in Criminal Justice and Public Service
Dr. Frederick Williams brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to the fields of criminal justice and government relations. With a strong academic foundation, including a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Tennessee State University and both a master's and doctorate from the University of Louisville, Dr. Williams combines scholarly rigor with extensive practical expertise.
A distinguished twenty-year veteran of the Kentucky State Police, Dr. Williams rose through every permanent sworn rank, culminating in the esteemed position of major on the command staff. During this exemplary career, Dr. Williams held key leadership roles, including Commander of Recruitment, Driver Testing, the Training Academy, and Operations Post 5 in Campbellsburg. This hands-on experience provides invaluable insight into the complexities of law enforcement and public safety.
Beyond active service, Dr. Williams has dedicated 14 years to shaping the next generation of criminal justice professionals as an adjunct instructor at various colleges and universities. Dr. Williams' research interests lie in crucial areas, such as law enforcement practices and program/policy evaluation, as evidenced by numerous peer-reviewed publications.
Prior to joining Kentucky State University, Dr. Williams served as the Director of Criminal Justice Studies at Spalding University. Currently, Dr. Williams leads as the Chairperson of the School of Criminal Justice and Government Relations at Kentucky State University, overseeing both undergraduate and graduate programs in criminal justice, and the undergraduate political science program.
Dr. Williams is married and has two daughters.
