Kentucky State University (KSU) students and faculty had the honor of engaging with Her Excellency Hajia Alima Mahama, the Ambassador of Ghana to the United States, during her recent visit to Detroit, Michigan. The two-day trip, hosted by Infinity Global Connections LLC (IGC), aimed to foster investment opportunities and strengthen ties between Ghana and Detroit.

Accompanied by a delegation from her staff, including Mrs. Ninette Danquah Ivo, Mr. Job Timob, and Mr. Oral Ofori, Ambassador Mahama embarked on a series of impactful engagements. The visit commenced with a Cass Technical High School tour, where Principal Lisa Phillips and students warmly welcomed Ambassador Mahama. Impressed by the school's rich history and academic excellence, she encouraged educational exchanges between Ghanaian and American schools, emphasizing the importance of STEM education and Ghana's strides in the tech industry.

One of the highlights of the visit was the Ambassador's keen interest in the Wo Ye Bra Program, a nonprofit initiative of Infinity Global Empowerment (IGC). This program empowers young females by teaching them to create and sell reusable sanitary pads. Recognizing the program's impact on reducing female youth absenteeism from schools, Ambassador Mahama expressed her admiration for the initiative.

The evening saw a welcome reception for the Ambassador at the Huntington Bank Tower, where IGC officials and members of the Detroit community greeted her.

On the second day, Ambassador Mahama and her team participated in a business investment forum, where they met with Ghanaian students from Kentucky State University who were also in attendance. Sharing experiences and challenges, the Ambassador encouraged the Ghanaian students to take pride in their heritage and contribute to their country's development.

Furthermore, Ambassador Mahama and KSU staff, including Dr. Michael Dailey, Dr. Scott Wicker, Dr. Eric Yang, and Ms. Sonia Sanders, discussed potential educational exchanges and collaborations between Ghanaian and American universities. Among the Ghanaian KSU students present were Alex Kofi and Ruby Obbu.

The visit was a valuable collaboration and cultural exchange opportunity, reaffirming KSU's commitment to global engagement and partnership.
