KSU faculty and staff participate in Bluegrass Academic Leadership Academy
Members of Kentucky State University’s faculty and staff participated in the Bluegrass Tomorrow Academic Leadership Academy this semester.
Participants included Campus Life Coordinator Jameeca Alexander, Director of Distance Learning and Instructional Design Dr. Michael Dailey, Acting Executive Director of Strategic Initiatives and Associate Professor in the School of Education Dr. Stashia L. Emanuel, Title IX Coordinator and Title VII Investigator Hannah Hale, and Director of Public Engagement Sonia Sanders.
After 32 years in education, Dr. Dailey says this was an excellent opportunity to continue his professional growth.
“Personally and professionally, this experience has expanded my perspective on how my role can contribute to the collective impact Kentucky State has to offer. There is a rich and diverse group of professionals each with unique experiences we need to embrace and use for our growth.”
Alexander saw the academy as a chance to learn from like-minded individuals.
“I was able to build great relationships and reconnect with people that I worked with at previous institutions. There was a lot of knowledge to be gained; I walked away with great insight from other leaders in higher education.”
Hale too benefited from other higher education leaders attending the academy.
“I was able to learn skills such as creating a collaborative and engaging work environment and bring that back to campus to share and put into practice,” adding, “I networked with other ambitious, future leaders which I look forward to collaborating with for the betterment of Kentucky State’s future.”
The academy is designed to encourage faculty and professional staff to consider leadership career paths and to ensure a sound and successful future for participating institutions and an economic future for the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
