Kentucky State University officials announced the addition of a new vice president of institutional advancement to its administration.

Wendy Kobler, previously the vice president for advancement at Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio, began her tenure at Kentucky State University July 1.

“As a highly experienced fundraising professional with a vast and proven portfolio, Kentucky State University is fortunate to have identified someone with Wendy’s capabilities to lead our advancement efforts,” President M. Christopher Brown II said.

“I’m truly humbled and honored to join the Kentucky State University Thorobred family,” Kobler said. “Kentucky State is a special place and I appreciate its proud history, the needs of our region and our students, as well as President M. Christopher Brown II’s bold vision for taking the University to new heights.”

While at Wittenberg University, Kobler and her team raised the highest total cash-in in the university’s 173-year history.

Kobler hit the ground running at Kentucky State.

“I want to grow the advancement office in every way imaginable, from personnel to increased engagement and philanthropic results,” Kobler said. “I see this as a unique opportunity to expand our infrastructure for short- and long-term success and growth.”

Kobler is a working on a doctorate degree at the Indiana Institute of Technology, having completed her coursework with a 4.0 GPA. She is currently researching and writing her dissertation about the pathway to the CEO position for women. She earned a master’s degree with a marketing and education focus at Alabama A&M University. Her professional memberships include the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) and the International Leadership Association (ILA).
