Two Kentucky State University faculty members recently earned recognition at a national conference in San Diego.

Lana Browning, adjunct faculty at Kentucky State and a recent master’s degree recipient, and Johnathon Sharp, Ph.D., assistant professor of psychology at KSU, were selected to present Browning’s master’s thesis on citizen video journalism and public cynicism towards police in the United States at the 2017 Society for Police and Criminal Psychology conference.

The presentation given by Browning and Sharp was awarded the Dr. Edward O. Schaeffer Award for Best Research Paper at the conference.

“This exposure and recognition showed the great students, faculty, and research that is occurring at Kentucky State,” Sharp said.

According to Sharp, the conference was attended by academics, researchers and working professionals from all over the world including Canada, England, Singapore, Kosovo and many more.

“Our faculty are to be commended for this great achievement and for receiving noteworthy recognition among their academic and professional peers from around the globe,” Dr. Debbie Thomas, provost and vice president for academic affairs at Kentucky State, said.
