As I woke up this morning to hear the devastating news from Orlando, Florida, about the horrific shooting at a nightclub frequented by members of the LGBT community, my heart immediately felt sorrow and pain for the families and loved ones of the victims.  The Kentucky State University community joins the rest of the country as we grieve for the victims of this tragic and senseless act of violence.

Kentucky State University is proud to be the most diverse college in the Commonwealth. We are a strong campus because of the contributions of all of our students, faculty, staff and alumni.

KSU remains committed to its stance as a diverse and inclusive university that respects and honors all people no matter what their age, race, gender, creed, culture, religion or sexual orientation.

Counseling services will be offered through Kentucky State University’s OUTlet Center that serves the LBGT community.

Our flag will be flown at half-staff and Kentucky State University will hold a moment of silence at 2:02 p.m. Monday to honor the memory of those murdered or injured during the siege that began at 2:02 a.m. Sunday.
