New date: KSU, families will unite for a day of service

Posted on November 18, 2016

FRANKFORT — Kentucky State University (KSU) will celebrate Family Volunteer Day on Saturday, December 3.* (*The original date, November 19,  is postponed due to weather.) Several volunteers will roll up their sleeves and help to clean Green Hill Cemetery at 9 a.m. for a day of service.

Kentucky State University is joining the Walt Disney Company and generationOn, to engage families for the annual Family Volunteer Day. Family Volunteer Day is a national day of service that celebrates the power of families who work together to support their communities and neighborhoods. Volunteering is a great way for children and adults to make new friends, develop compassion for their neighbors, and pick up a new skill or two!

For more than 25 years, Family Volunteer Day has been held on the Saturday before Thanksgiving to kick off the holiday season by giving and service. Due to the weather forecast, the Family Volunteer Day event is rescheduled to Saturday, December 3~9 a.m. at the Green Hill Cemetery.

Participants, who use social media, are asked to tweet and photograph their progress at Green Hill Cemetery using the hashtag: #FamilyVolunteerDay and direct tweets to @generationOn and @CitizenDisney.
