The China Initiatives

The China initiatives is created to establish, grow and strengthen partnering relationships and engagement with Chinese universities and institutions among faculty/staff and student on international exchange, collaborative research, academic collaboration on degree and/or non-degree programs.

The Office of China Affairs can provide advisory services to the University community on their on-going or potential partnership or business dealings with Chinese higher education institutions, business, government, and other organizations.

China Initiatives

The primary focus of the China Initiatives is to

  • Identify strategic China partners with whom KSU academic units can build collaborative relations
  • Lead and facilitate steps that lead to the establishment of new collaborations
  • Maintain and keep existing programs with China
  • Guide and support KSU faculty and students teach in China at our partner universities
  • Support Chinese students coming through the dual or joint degree programs and/or non-degree programs, and exchange programs of our Chinese partners.

To establish partnership with China, it is common that Chinese partners will first ask for a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), which serves as general intention of collaboration of “framework agreement” laying out the broad areas and mechanisms for cooperation. Later, as cooperation  deepens, this MOU is followed by a more focused MOU in name of Addendum to this MOU to govern more specific programs, for example, 2+2 undergraduate degree program in nursing.
