The National Weather Service is forecasting winter weather for the Frankfort area
and across central Kentucky, with rain and snow possible from this evening through
Tuesday, December 2, 2025. The University is actively monitoring conditions and preparing
in case inclement weather develops.
Students, faculty, and staff should be prepared for the possibility that campus operations
may transition to remote. If the campus is closed and remote operations are declared
(the “Remote Work Option”), only essential staff and services will operate on campus.
Essential employees designated by their supervisors should plan to report as directed,
even if remote operations are in effect.
If the Remote Work Option is declared, faculty and staff will be expected to work
remotely and be available for work beginning at 8 a.m., unless otherwise scheduled
by their supervisor. Employees who have a University-issued laptop or other mobile
device are encouraged to take it home at the end of the day so they are prepared to
work remotely if needed. If a University-issued laptop is needed, please stop by the
IT Help Desk in the Academic Services Building before 4:30 p.m., if possible.
At this time, the campus is expected to open tomorrow at 8 a.m. unless the President
declares the Remote Work Option or takes other action, such as announcing a delayed
opening (for example, a two-hour delay). Any such changes will be communicated through
University communication channels, including email, the website, social media, and
BRED Alerts.
We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we navigate potential weather
challenges together. Your dedication to the University’s mission is valued, and your
safety remains our top priority.
