Kentucky State University Celebrates the Class of 2025 Commencement Convocation

Commencement 2025

Frankfort, KY - Saturday, May 10, 2025 marked a major milestone for more than 300 Kentucky State University (KSU) graduates. Thousands of proud parents, family members, alumni, faculty, staff, and friends celebrated, in two ceremonies the incredible Class of 2025 at the William Exum Center.

This year’s commencement address was delivered by Dr. Jewel H. Bronaugh, President and CEO of the 1890 Universities Foundation. She provided a riveting speech encouraging graduates to lead courageously as they set out to transform the world.

“You’re not called just to succeed personally, but to lead courageously,” said Dr. Bronaugh. “As HBCU graduates, you carry a proud legacy of triumph over adversity. You are the heirs to institutions built with limited resources but with limitless dreams. Dr. King said, ‘stand firm and do not be afraid and never underestimate your ability to be the architects of a better world.’ I see a class before me ready to answer that call…”

Class of 2025 graduates included valedictorian, Cameron Purvis, who earned his bachelor’s degree in agricultural systems and salutatorian, Ciara Robinson, who earned dual bachelor’s degrees in political science and criminal justice.

“It is a great feeling to be graduating and starting the next chapter in my life. I can’t wait to see where the future leads me,” said Purvis. “I wish everybody the best of luck as they leave here and transfer to their next chapter in life.”

“It feels fantastic to be graduating. I have always dreamed of moving from my hometown and pursuing higher education, and while I did not know at the time that I would end up in Kentucky, I have no regrets. I have had the chance to travel, meet amazing people, and grow socially, educationally, and professionally,” said Robinson.

KSU’s Class of 2025 consisted of 39 certificates, 13 associate degrees, 241 bachelor’s degrees, 47 master’s degrees, and 5 doctoral degrees. Thirty-nine degrees and credentials were awarded in summer 2024, 66 awarded in fall 2024, and 247 were awarded this spring 2025. Three honorary degrees were conferred to former Representative Derrick Graham, Representative James Tipton, and Dr. Jewel H. Bronaugh.

With a bright future ahead, the world eagerly awaits this new generation of Thorobreds Leading for Impact.

Congratulations to KSU’s Class of 2025!
