Louisville, KY – On Friday, December 13, 2024, Kentucky State University (KSU) and the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections (LMDC) signed a new memorandum of understanding establishing a partnership to launch the Corrections Certificate Pathway for LMDC corrections officers. The new pathway will meet the educational needs of LMDC corrections officers and supports their career advancements. “We are pleased to partner with the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections to support correctional officers. The Corrections Certificate Pathway will provide officers the educational tools to enhance their service and careers,” said KSU President, Dr. Koffi C. Akakpo. Financial assistance, academic advising, tutoring, and support services will also be offered to assist participants throughout their program. Upon successful completion of their courses, LMDC corrections officers will earn a certificate from KSU.
