Partnership will create new educational opportunities and promote college preparation for Hispanic youth

Kentucky State University (KSU) and Adelante Hispanic Achievers have recently formed a partnership to enhance educational opportunities for Hispanic youth through programs, events, and resources designed to support their academic and professional growth. This partnership bridges gaps in higher education by offering tailored support and opportunities to students who may face unique challenges. 

“We are thrilled to announce our partnership with Adelante Hispanic Achievers. This collaboration is an incredible opportunity to support and empower Hispanic students, providing them with the access to the resources and educational pathways they deserve,” said Dr. Paloma Pinillos, KSU Latinx Services Coordinator.

Adelante Hispanic Achievers is a nonprofit based in Louisville, KY founded to support and empower Latinx youth and their families by offering programs designed to aid in students’ personal, social, cultural, and educational development.

“With our partnership, we intend to help bridge the gap for Hispanic youth interested in college by providing resources and informational programming to prepare and educate students and their families as they begin researching colleges and possible careers,” said Dr. Koffi C. Akakpo, KSU President.

This collaboration between KSU and Adelante Hispanic Achievers will connect Hispanic youth to KSU resources, programs, and scholarships in addition to Adelante’s strong community connections and support system. This includes coordinating campus visits and tours for Adelante Achievers and their parents, connecting Adelante Hispanic Achievers to summer opportunities, sharing informational resources, and more. This partnership will not only help students transition smoothly into college life but also ensure they feel supported throughout their educational journey. Notably, KSU has agreed to award one full-tuition scholarship annually for an eligible graduating Adelante Achiever who meets specific criteria. The scholarship will be renewable for four years for Adelante Achievers who meet set requirements.

This collaboration removes barriers by making higher education affordable and ensures that our Achievers successfully apply to and enter college with a supportive community, setting them up for success from day one,” said Juliana Rodriguez, Executive Director of Adelante Hispanic Achievers. “Together, we are creating pathways for our students to become educated, creative global citizens and contribute to a brighter, more inclusive future.”
