FRANKFORT, Ky - On Tuesday, June 18, Kentucky State University (KSU) hosted a spirited celebration to commemorate Juneteenth, a historic day when enslaved African Americans in Texas learned of their freedom in 1865. The celebration, a collaboration between KSU and the local community, attracted a diverse crowd of students, faculty, staff, Franklin County residents, and small businesses. Vendors such as Tom's Coffee Truck and representatives from the Divine Nine fraternity and sorority organizations contributed to the festive atmosphere with food, games, and activities for children.

"This is more than just a celebration; it's a recognition of our history and the progress we've made," remarked Dr. Koffi C. Akakpo., President of KSU.
