Kentucky State University and Swim With Purpose Marks One-Year Anniversary
Swim With Purpose, a charitable fundraiser dedicated to raising $1M for the restoration of Kentucky State University’s (KSU) William Exum Center indoor aquatic facility, is commemorating its one-year anniversary since receiving its inaugural donation.
"Our commitment to community engagement and empowerment is reflected with Swim With Purpose," says Dr. Koffi C. Akakpo, President of KSU. "We strongly support initiatives that uplift our students and local community.”
Sam Taylor, Chairman and Co-Founder of Swim with Purpose, expressed gratitude to the local community and elected officials for their steadfast support over the past year. He extended special appreciation to Dr. Akakpo for his unwavering backing and acknowledged the dedication of the Swim With Purpose Board of Directors.
Earlier this year, Swim With Purpose announced a $75K grant to KSU, marking a pivotal step towards the planning, design, and construction of the indoor pool. The City of Frankfort and the Franklin County community has been left without an indoor pool since KSU’s Exum Center pool went offline in 2022.
