Kentucky State University Women's Basketball Team: A Season to Celebrate

FRANKFORT, KY — April 12, 2024 — Kentucky State University (KSU) Women's Basketball had an impressive 2023-2024 season.  In her first season as head coach, Amani Williams led the team to a regular season record of 19-6 and a conference record of 15-4. They secured the title of regular-season West Division Co-Champions, earning the #1 seed heading into the 2024 SIAC Basketball Championship.

In honor of their monumental season, KSU President, Dr. Koffi Akakpo, recognized the team and stated, “We’re very proud of Coach Williams and the team for an unprecedented year.” 

"This first season as head coach has been amazing. As an alum of KSU, it means the world to see and be a part of the growth of KSU," said Coach Williams as she reflected on the season, "Women’s Basketball is on the rise forever, onward and upward!"

Coach Williams was honored with the prestigious SIAC Coach of the Year award during the Women’s Final Four games in Cleveland, Ohio, for her outstanding leadership.

"Receiving Coach of the Year is an accolade that’s not only for myself but for the administration staff and faculty that pour into the program," stated Coach Williams, "For everyone who has supported Women’s Basketball this season, Thank You!"

Additional SIAC honors went to students, Gracen Kerr, for SIAC Player of the year and to TaLeah Dilworth.
