Kentucky State University Hosts 2024 Kentucky Psychology Student Conference

Kentucky State University (KSU) hosted the 2024 Kentucky Psychology Student Conference on Saturday, April 13, 2024. Organized by Dr. Tierra Freeman-Taylor, KYSU's Director of Institutional Effectiveness and Professor of Psychology, in collaboration with the Kentucky Psychology Foundation, the event provided a platform for graduate and undergraduate psychology students from across Kentucky.

“120 Kentucky students attended the conference, including seven KSU students,” Mara Merlino, Professor of Psychology & Sociology and Graduate Program Coordinator.

“The Kentucky Psychology Student Conference offered an enriching experience for participants. Including various activities aimed at fostering academic and professional growth through research presentations, networking opportunities, workshops, and social networking. I was so thrilled to attend with our students.”

Dr. Freeman-Taylor remarked, "we have remarkable students. Two received job offers on the spot from multiple counties."

Interim Vice President and Provost Dr. Michael D. Dailey also stating, "it was great to see our students represent KYSU and be fully engaged. Thankful to welcome so many scholars here on campus from across the Commonwealth."

The event received positive feedback from attendees, with students, faculty, and staff expressing appreciation for the enriching experience provided by the conference. Several KYSU students were recognized and four students won a monetary award for their outstanding research contributions.
